Well it's really over now, summer that is. No more lazy days down the shore or hitting the boardwalk. Back to studying the back of teachers heads and nice old lunch lady's.

Geometry and history is just a pain,
Biology and chemistry destroys my brain.
Well don't they know that I deserve a better fate?

I'm really much too young to matriculate.
Well mama please, your child's come down with a fatal disease. Mama said, "Come on you lazy bum now get your butt out of bed!"
"You gotta go back, back, back to school again!"

It's bye-bye fun, get your homework done,You better be in by ten,
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
Whoa, whoa, I gotta go... back to school again!
I got my books together and I dragged my feet,T
hen I saw this angel boppin' down the street.I said,
"Hey, pretty baby, howsabout a date?"
She said, "I'm going to school, and I can't be late."

I recently recieved a postcard from a dear friend of mine who is currently in Italy. What I beautiful country. I made me go digging through my thing to find an old scrapbook and its entries... I never wanted to leave, for I had fallen in love, in love with Rome; its skylines, medieval towers, the fountains, the Vatican, the Sistine chapel, the Roman Colosseum, pagan temples, monasteries, and the gardens. On our last night in Rome I left the hotel and started walking, as the night circled around me the steady glow of the street lamps caused my shadow to dance across the sidewalk. It was late but the city was still alive, people were still on the move, still holding on to the darkness. The summer air was heavy and sweet, music drifted around the town. I sang along to the songs even I didn’t know the words, and danced instead of walking. My English muffled by the steady streams of different languages floating in the night breeze. With no destination in mind, I followed the enticing music; the distant wind swirling around as the stars danced overhead. Looking forward I realized I had reached the Trevi Fountain, I reached into my pocket and took out a coin. I tossed it in, closed my eyes, and wished that one day I would return to this foreign town and dance under these same stars.

Well, It's that time of year.. Back to school, labor day is over and bed times are in full effect.

My youngest sister, Caroline starts preschool tomorrow, she is so excited. I think my mom is more excited than she is though....She's spent the last two days picking her outfit.

Here's Caroline with a deer in the backyard. ( no the deer is not ours, it came with the house, my mom likes it!)

And here she is with my dad's prized roses.

Remember your first day of school? Whether it was elementary, middle school, high school, or even college. The rush?

Summer Memories

Sunscreen and bare feet
Popsicles and jellyfish
Running from the car to the sand
The hot gravel beneath our feet
Beach towels and umbrellas in drinks
Sand castles with stairs that lead to heaven
A moat, drawbridge, a starfish king, a conch shell queen
Seaweed and sea shells, scattered along the shoreline
Pebbles we collect to put into our jar
That sits on our windowsill
With colors that sparkle and glow
Lifeguard towers block the sun
Tanned gods awaiting rescues
Beach balls and romance novels
Night falls and the air is quiet
Dinner is clams and snow crab legs
Couples walk along the coastline
Hands held, lips meet and bonds formed
We walk together shoulders touching
The waves crashing softly in the bay
Forever Yours, anchored safely at the dock
You pull me close, a sudden chill in the night air
As we head for home, leaving the sea behind us
Another summer of memories

The Boardwalk Walk

It seem as if the walk lasted forever
As if, we would never reach the end
For there was always something new,
Something undiscovered, unexplored from the last time we were there
Hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers, corndogs, meats on sticks and fries
Nursery rhyme tunes that take us back to days
Of double-dutch and ring around the rosie
Games of chance, carousal rides, and the ferris wheel
Tokens, tickets, all day passes
Reckless tramcars and couples on rollerblades
Saltwater taffy, funnel cakes, and snow cones

Jersey Shore

Starfish and seashells
Couples on vacation, exploring the Jersey shore
The bright lights that illuminate the paths
The calm Atlantic Ocean waves
Strolling on the boardwalk as the salty air surrounds us

Crash softly on the shore
The warm sea breeze
Dancing at the Shamrock
Music about a boy and his love for a Jersey girl.....

To summers going down the shore................
